La Georgia conserva un forte spirito guerriero ed una antichissima tradizione cavalleresca, legata alla società feudale medievale dei diversi klan di nobili (aznauri) e cavalieri (raindi), ma anche alle crociate ed ai templari (tadzrelebi), ed alla difesa del Caucaso cristiano dalle invasioni mussulmane persiane e ottomane. Non a caso, il Patrono della Georgia è San Giorgio (Santo Patrono di tutta la cavalleria cristiana), come la bandiera dalla Georgia è quella crociata di San Giorgio (potenziata con quattro croci templari) simile allo standardo del Santo Sepolcro di Gerusalemme). La Casa Reale Bagrationi di Imereti ha tre ordini cavallereschi riconosciuti dalla Chiesa Ortodossa Apostolica di Georgia. Il più importante è il Reale Ordine di San Simone Cannita lo Zelota, una sola classe per uomini e donne, riservato solo ai membri delle famiglie sovrane o già sovrane (imperiali, reali e principesche), ai vescovi e patriarchi, a capi di stato e di governo. Altro Ordine Reale è quello degli Uomini del Giuramento (detti Cavalieri dell'Onore), classe unica, riservato solo ai patrioti ortodossi georgiani fedeli alla Casa Reale, alla Tradizione ed alla causa monarchica. Unico Ordine Reale aperto, a tutti i buoni cristiani anche non georgiani, è quello dedicato ai Santi Davide e Costantino, diviso in più classi, attraverso il quale, raggiungendo il massimo grado, si ottiene automaticamente una Nobiltà generica trasmissibile ai propri dicendenti.
Simon the Zealot (Acts 1:13), Simon, who was called the Zealot (Luke 6:15), Simon Canaanite (Matthew 10:4) was one of the apostles of Jesus Christ. According to Georgian tradition, Christianity was first preached in Georgia by the Apostles Simon, Andrew, Matthias, Bartholomew and Thaddeus in the 1st century. One of the oldest traditions was that St.Simon the Zealot was martyred in Georgia. Georgian tradition holds that he preached in Western Georgia and was buried near Sokhumi in the village of Anakopia, where New Athos Monastery is located and St.Simon was especially venerated. The Order of Simon the Zealot (Canaanite) was founded by HRH Hereditary Prince Irakli Bagrationi in 2017 as the highest dynasty order of House of Bagrationi – Imereti. This Order is given to members of the Dynasty and kinsmen exclusively. It may be awarded to sovereigns, princes of sovereign houses and heads of state, heads of church for meritorious service to the Crown. The Order of Simon the Zealot (Canaanite) is a House Order of the Royal House of Bagrationi-Imereti. The Order consists of a single class.
On 1752 Solomon I the King of Imereti founded a completely new institute, the order of the” men of the oath”. “Men of the oath” gathered in a special place every year of May 15th. This order consists on only faithful members, who serve the King and recognize his supremacy. Now HRH Hereditary Prince Irakli Bagrationi has re-founded this order. HRH is The Leader of The Order of “Men of The Oath”. The Order consists of a single class.
